When Joseph Mullen started a Saturday house music night at Nation, he didn’t imagine what it would grow into. Those original parties in 1994 were launched right in the middle of England’s dance music explosion, quickly attracting a few thousand to Cream every weekend.
Mullen knew he was onto something, and took the opportunity to launch Cream Ibiza in the legendary Amnesia club, which later became the longest running club night on the island. Creamfields launched a few years later, taking advantage of the growing rave culture in England. Over the last 20 years, Creamfields has since expanded with sister festivals all over the world, but National still holds it down three nights a year with a Cream event on Easter, in late October and on Boxing Day.
The festival has made a point of showcasing the entire spectrum of electronic dance music, with UK favorites Pete Tong and Fatboy Slim praising the curation. Ten stages will be hosting an incredibly star-studded and well-rounded list of performers. There are too many headliners to list here, but some of them are Avicii, The Chemical Brothers, Hardwell, Andy C, Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren.
