St. Martin and St. Maarten is a Caribbean paradise and a great place to explore for those who love the beach and the great outdoors.
Start your morning with a quick breakfast at the hotel, probably something affordable like eggs and toast. Dining out is expensive on the island, so cut costs where you can.
After breakfast make your way to Loterie Farm at the base of Pic du Paradis. The hike to the top is arduous, and a self-guided tour will cost you roughly $5, but the views from the peak are breathtaking; you can see the entire island. Exploring the grounds will sap up most of the morning.
You might as well eat lunch at the Hidden Forest Café on the farm, since it’s nearby. The food is good, but a decent meal will run you nearly $30.
Afterward, make your way back to the shores and experience Orient Bay. There’s a load of watersports to enjoy, from jet skiing to parasailing, though they might be too pricey. If you can find a friendly local you might be able to do some stuff for free. Otherwise, just explore and enjoy the views.
From there, head to Front Street for the best shopping the island has to offer. You’ll find unique trinkets to take home to friends if you don’t mind spending a few bucks.
For dinner, be sure to check out Little Jerusalem, one of the local hotspots with excellent Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine and a superb staff. It’s a great place to chat with locals. Dinner here will cost you roughly $30.
