Northwestern Montana’s Glacier National Park is a stunning network of glacier-sculpted mountains, alpine lakes, waterfalls and more. There are plenty of opportunities for scenic drives and hikes.
Start your day with breakfast at the Swift Creek Café in nearby Whitefish, where you’ll spend about $12 on a filling breakfast. I suggest picking up a sandwich at a local grocery, like Safeway, so you can save money and have food handy. A sub sandwich, snack and a drink will cost only $10. Then head into the park, where it’s $25 for a week-long pass.

Spend your morning driving the Going to the Sun Road, or head out to one of the park’s other fetching districts, Two Medicine or Many Glacier.
Once you arrive, have lunch before hitting a trail like Avalanche Lake, Hidden Lake or Two Medicine Lake. There are tons of options to keep you busy all day long.

Heading back out of the park, you’ve got room in your budget for ice cream. Be on the look out for the area’s signature huckleberry ice cream, made with local, wild-foraged huckleberries. Expect to spend $5.
Back in Whitefish, head to one of many outstanding places to eat dinner — you can’t go wrong here. Your remaining $52 will go far.
