Under $100 / North America

Milwaukee has a reputation of just sort of existing, but those who’ve been there know there are tons of places to explore and plenty of fun to be had. As a smaller city you can do most of it on a budget.

Start your day with a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum. It houses a wide variety of exhibits to discover, though the building itself is a work of art. Entrance to the museum is free, so there’s no harm in swinging through.

Next stop by the Basilica of St. Josaphat. You could get lost for hours in here taking in every breathtaking detail in the walls, or even take in a service if you’d like. The church looks like it came straight out of Europe, which is truly a unique find in the States. Entrance is free.

For lunch make your way to the Brat House, where you’ll find some pretty spectacular bar food at a great price. The beer selection is top notch and you won’t break the bank. It’s the perfect place to unwind in the middle of the day. Set aside $20 for a meal.

Start the afternoon by exploring the Pabst Mansion, former home to the famous beer baron. It’s a true work of art straight out of the 1800s with a lot of historical significance for the city. A basic tour will run you $12.

Afterward, take a stroll through the Milwaukee Public Market to see what locals are crafting and selling. Street performers are typically found entertaining the crowds and it’s always a fun walk to be had.

For dinner, have a go at Safe House. It’s a quirky little restaurant with a spy theme and a bit of a game required to even get in. The food is good, but the atmosphere is the real draw. A meal will set you back roughly $30.
