Prince William and Manassas, Va., is a beautiful and historic spot on the Potomac River, making for a relaxing weekend trip in the summer.
Start the day with breakfast at Jirani’s Coffee House, a place that doubles as a community space for live music and cultural events. In addition to coffee, Jirani’s also features local bakers that sell their fresh goods made in-house.
The area is of great significance, serving as battleground for the First and Second Battle of Bull Run in the American Civil War. Manassas Battlefield Park and Ben Lomond Historic Site have several historic sites to see with guides and experts who can explain the various intricacies of the battles.
If you’re interested in doing some day drinking, Travinia Italian Kitchen is a good place to stop for lunch with its well-stocked wine bar and extensive drink list. Prince William County has many local breweries and distilleries, like Tin Cannon Brewing and KO Distilling, where you can even buy a small cask to take home.
Other places to visit include The Winery at La Grange and Potomac Shores Golf Club, one the best new golf courses in the country, built in 2014.
