Under $100 / North America

Washington, D.C., may be the mecca of wealth, power and government in this country, but having a good time on a budget is easily done in this city.

Visit the Renwick Gallery and take a free tour of the gallery’s highlights. This incredible museum showcases unique and innovative works, delving into the evolution of the arts. Like most museums and public spaces in D.C., admission is free, allowing for visitors on a budget to fully explore the arts and history of the city.

Open each weekend, the Eastern Market on Capitol Hill boasts beautiful handmade arts, crafts and fresh produce and flowers. Listen to free live music while browsing the 100 merchants or more who frequent the historic market, established in 1873.

If your feet get tired after checking out the National Mall, the free zoo, memorials, monuments and museums, hop on the DC Circulator Bus which travels from Union Station and the National Gallery of Art to the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials for $1. Every trip for the first two hours after your purchase is free, so it is easy to spend a lot of time and little money checking out the must-see historical spots of Washington, D.C.

For some outdoor fun, enjoy a Washington Nationals game with outfield reserve tickets ranging from $35–38 per person.

With a nearly full day of free sightseeing and exploring, dining and shopping can be found on every corner, so splurge and enjoy!
