History

Where there is history and culture, there is often a beautiful vacation spot. For history buffs and the culturally curious, there are so many places around the country that are must-see, dream destinations. The winter season makes some parts of the country more desirable than others, but at the moment there are many amazing, under-rated options for any history fan to take in..

On U.S. soil alone there are a myriad of historic destination spots from the rebellious harbor of Boston, Mass., through the cobblestone streets of Savannah, Ga., to the Jazz era in Harlem, N.Y. In such historic cities as Philadelphia, Boston, New York, Chicago, New Orleans and San Antonio, there will always be amazing museums and galleries as well as incredible architecture.

Each of these deserving historic cities have enough sightseeing, amazing food, shopping and history to fill any historian’s appetite, but for natural history, go west.

For starters, there is the Sedona Desert in Sedona, Ariz. With the incredible red sandstone and epic rock formations, this site is worth getting away to and seeing this time of year. The neighboring sites, such as the Grand Canyon, will contain most of the season’s crowds leaving the desert less touristy, but equally as beautiful.

This time of year, the Red Wood Forest in California is teeming with beauty bearing thick, full foliage reminiscent of a fairytale. Along with mild temperatures is a moist climate leaving the forest glistening, even in the occasional snowfall. If California is just a little too far West without seeing a beach, try Glacier National Park in Mo. Just on the boarder of Canada, the once nicknamed “Switzerland of America” contains 700 miles of hiking trails, gorgeous lakes and rivers all with an insane mountain backdrop.
