Guadalajara is Mexico’s second-largest city and you’re sure to find plenty to keep you entertained!
Start your day with breakfast at El Patio. They have a variety of lighter options, such as fruit and smoothies, or you can go for one of the specialties, such as an omelet with squash blossoms or chipotle chicken crepes. You can find your entrée for around $10–15.

To make the most of your time, head to Plaza de Armas, where you’ll be able to visit several historic structures and buildings all in one central area. The Guadalajara Cathedral was built in the 16th century and contains artwork from some of Mexico’s most famous artists throughout history. For those with slightly macabre taste, you’ll also find the embalmed heart of a Mexican president and the tombs of several cardinals and bishops.
Also located in the plaza is the Government Palace, which contains a museum with eight different exhibition halls, as well as plenty of historic architecture and artwork. Entrance to the museum is free.

Since you’ll already be in the birthplace of tequila, hop aboard the Tequila Express for an all-inclusive tour of distilleries, agave farms and more. Tastings and lunch are included for $50, which may be the bulk of your budget for the day, but well worth it.
For dinner, stop by Karne Garibaldi, where they serve only one main dish and always in record time —13.5 seconds. The main dish is carne en su jugo, which is basically meat cooked in its own juices, sometimes with bacon and onion. You can order quesadillas as an appetizer, and queso, guacamole or fried beans as a side. Your bill will be around $15.
