21c Museum Hotels is excited to announce “Nightwatch,” a sleep-in, site-specific art installation designed by renowned artist Chris Doyle and curated by 21c museum director and chief curator Alice Gray Stites. This groundbreaking experience launches in properties in Cincinnati, Bentonville and Lexington, reimagining the traditional hotel stay to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind journey into multimedia contemporary art.
“Nightwatch” takes travelers on a journey where art and technology mix to create a distinctive visual and sensory experience. During the day, the suite transforms into a breathtaking scene evoking both a surreal forest landscape and the enchantment of Fantasia, the famous 1940 animated musical film. Custom-designed walls, carpets and curtains in the suite help create this magical experience.
At night, the experience reveals its true magic. The suite features projected light to bring the walls to life. In the living area, a searchlight projects geometric shapes that dance around the room. The sleeping area will feature ethereal forms of flying birds. This display of light, color and shadow highlights the vibrant life of the forest at night.
“We are excited to present Nightwatch by Chris Doyle, an extraordinary fusion of art and hospitality that embodies 21c Museum Hotels’ commitment to innovative, immersive experiences,” shared Stites. “This sleep-in installation transforms the hotel suite into a dynamic, living artwork, offering guests a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary art in a deeply personal and sensory way. Chris Doyle’s visionary approach highlights the magic and vitality of the natural world, creating an unforgettable stay that is both thought-provoking and enchanting.”
