Destinations / North America

These are far from your average farmers or art markets. Each summer, Santa Fe, New Mexico, hosts three markets dedicated to local tradition, arts and culture — and each market is one of the largest of its kind. So, mark your calendar for …

Santa Fe International Folk Art Market

Taking place July 11–14, Santa Fe International Folk Art Market welcomes more than 150 artists from more than 50 countries. Attending artists are chosen via a rigorous selection process, so you know you’ll find some amazing handmade items representing folk art traditions from around the world. Buy your tickets in advance.

Santa Fe Traditional Spanish Market

In contrast, Santa Fe Traditional Spanish Market exclusively focuses on New Mexico’s Hispanic culture and is the largest Spanish market in the United States. Taking place July 27–28, it’s also the oldest Spanish market in the country, operating for more than 70 years. Expect hundreds of local Hispanic artists to display their work, crafted using traditional methods and materials. Live music, local food and demonstrations will also be on offer at this free event.

Santa Fe Indian Market

Lastly, Aug. 17–18, Santa Fe Indian Market is renowned as the best and largest juried native art market in the world. More than 100 tribal communities are represented via more than 1,000 artisans, showing off their work in textiles, beadwork, basketry and more. The free festival will also highlight the region’s food scene.

You’re headed to the beach for the day. You may have to walk a distance from your car to your spot on the sand. You want to be prepped and prepared for whatever happens, but you don’t want to lug the entire kitchen sink with you.
