Nowhere does autumn quite like New England. If you’re considering traveling to the region this fall, try to align your visit with one of these can’t-miss fall fests.
Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival
Every October, the Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, fills the streets with lively music and tons of travelers that have come out of the woodwork in search of the freshest, best seafood. Enjoy all of your favorite New England seafood dishes while you enjoy views of the water right from the wharf.
New Hampshire Highland Games & Festivals
If you’re closer to New Hampshire than Rhode Island, why not see what this annual all-things-Scottish festival is all about? The Sept. 20–22 fest includes the Scottish Highland Games World Championships, lots of dancing, a living history encampment, performers, games, crafts and whisky and beer.
Vermont Wine & Harvest Festival
The same weekend, the Vermont Wine & Harvest Festival takes center stage. One of the best food events in the entire country, this is your chance to explore Vermont’s culinary scene all in one place, as vintners, food producers, chefs, cheese makers and more arrive to show off their best wares.
Northeast Kingdom Fall Foliage Festival
In remote Northeast Kingdom, Vermont, explore seven small towns across the region, Sept 30–Oct. 6. There are all kinds of events going on over the seven days, including leaf peeping, cider pressing, chili cook-offs, pancake breakfasts and more. How could you need anything else for the perfect fall experience?
