As voted by our readers in the annual Trazees awards, Portland, Ore,, is a top destination for any foodie. A true sign of an innovative food scene in any city is when vegan and vegetarian cuisine is just as sought after as any other cuisine. Portland has a well-stocked repertoire of top-notch, creative, plant-based menus.

For a vegan punk metal bar and restaurant, head to Black Water Bar and Restaurant on Broadway Street. This bar and restaurant doubles as a punk music venue and has some of the best homemade vegan and vegetarian burgers in the area.

The Bourgee Burger comes complete with vegan bacon, blue cheese, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. Even the drinks follow the punk rock theme with local favorite, Little Lebowski, a white Russian with coconut milk.

Vegan ramen noodle options at Boke Bowl can be a combination of enoki mushrooms, Japanese eggplant, noodles, kim chi and much more. Boke Bowl noodle bar has the ultimate rainy day comfort food and get-well meal with the caramelized fennel broth and hearty rice tots.

For dessert, check out Petunia’s Pies & Pastries on 12th Avenue. This vegan and gluten-free dessert shop has amazing, homemade “nice” cream, pastries and special occasion desserts. This vegan pastry shop is known for their healthy dessert options from pies, doughnuts, mousses and more.
