Trends / Food & Drink

Peruvian food is having a moment around the world, with ceviche becoming a hit with diners globally. Visitors to Lima will surely be impressed by the quality and diversity of Peruvian food. With big-ticket restaurants such as Central, Maras and Malabar and thousands of smaller eateries worthy of your time, you will be spoiled for choice in the Peruvian capital.

If you don’t have the cash to splash on a night at one of the most famous and expensive spots in town, there are still plenty of places to go. Try the Nikkei cuisine at Osaka and Hanzo, or check out the Chinese-Peruvian chifa at Chez Wong and Chifa Titi.

For jungle-inspired dishes, Amaz in Miraflores is a great spot, and El Aguajal is a favorite for Peruvians that moved to the capital from the Amazonian regions. Check out the beef heart skewers known as anticuchos at Anticuchos Grimanesa, and mountain-region specialties at Huancahuasi.

Those on a tight budget should eat at lunchtime, with set menu specials usually a great deal. In the evenings, stick to sandwich shops such as El Chinito in the center of Lima or Sandwich Monstruo in Barranco.

More specifically, Kona Village has its very own Mai Tai Mile, where guests can find four unique and different takes on the Mai Tai. Each distinct drink is inspired by its setting and comes with its own story.
