When you want to discuss the best books out there without leaving your house or you just can’t find a circle of friends who love the same genres and books as you, try one of these online book clubs.
With no specific genre and a flexible schedule, books come around every few months and there’s a posted schedule for the online Tumblr discussions. This is not merely a discussion, though. You can post your reactions to the book through artwork, poetry, video or just a good, ol’-fashioned written review.
If you love sci-fi and fantasy, try the Wired Book Club. There’s a book picked by the organizers each month and then, each week, there are online posts where you can comment on your experience reading the book thus far. Plus, Wired invites the author to participate in fun Q&A sessions.
Follow #WLClub on Twitter to keep up with this virtual book club that’s gained such a great following, some of the members even started meeting in person to discuss the books. The virtual version meets via Google Hangouts and social media.
If you’re not on Goodreads and you consider yourself to be a lover of all things literature, are you really? Goodreads not only offers a great community of readers all on its own … they also have plenty of active book clubs to find in the forums. Just go search for the book club-tagged forum threads and you’ll find almost 10,000 clubs started — so you can pick the one that’s right for you.
