Kayak’s New Group Trip Planning Tool: ‘Trip Huddle’

It seems like every few weeks, travel booking site Kayak rolls out a new feature that aims to make travel searching and booking even easier for travelers. Kayak’s new tool, “Trip Huddle,” improves the trip-planning process for groups as multiple people can suggest, vote on and collaborate on the perfect trip.

Based on a recent Kayak-conducted survey, 48 percent of travelers report planning a group trip is incredibly stressful. Using Kayak Huddle, groups can nominate their most valuable planner to lead the charge and create the options for others to consider. To start, the MVP creates a name for the trip and then either logs into a Kayak account or creates a new one. Then the organizer can invite other travelers to join the group through e-mail or via a curated link. Next, the MVP can choose one or many destinations. If more than one is chosen, group members can vote. The MVP then chooses a selection of dates and ideal accommodation options for which travelers can vote as well.

The MVP isn’t the only member who can suggest locations, dates and lodging; all members can chime in and then choose a time to close the nominations so everyone can vote.

It may only be a matter of time before Kayak introduces other group travel functionalities to ease the worries of a historically stressful activity.
