Adventure

Wind River Country, Wyoming, offers visitors stunning landscapes to explore this winter. There are numerous ways to enjoy the destination, whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation.

Get Cozy

Book a stay in one of the area’s charming accommodations. Wind River Hotel & Casino and Shoshone Rose Casino & Hotel are great options for those looking for resorts with plenty of indoor activities. Enjoy rugged luxury at the all-inclusive Brooks Lake Lodge. For those looking to truly unplug, Louis Lake Lodge’s rooms are without WiFi and electricity.

Snowshoe Experience

Spend time exploring Wind River Country by foot on snowshoes. The area receives large amounts of snowfall. The snow is light and dry, making for ideal snowshoe experiences.  Shoshone National Forest and Sinks Canyon State Park offer numerous snowshoe trails.

Snowmobile at Togwotee Pass

Togwotee Pass is located a short drive from Dubois, Wyoming, on the northern part of the Continental Divide Trail. Its elevation peaks at 9,000 feet for spectacular panoramic views. Book a snowmobile ride with an experienced guide.

Skiing for All

There are numerous skiing options throughout Wind River Country. Choose from Nordic, cross-country and backcountry options. Nordic skiers can find miles of trails in Lander and Dubois. Ski destinations for cross-country skiers include Sinks Canyon State Park and Willow Creek. Togwotee Pass offers prime backcountry skiing terrain.

Go Climbing

Whether you like ice climbing or rock climbing, Wind River Country has opportunities year-round, especially at Sinks Canyon State Park.

“Winter in Wyoming can seem intimidating, but with crisp mountain air, blue skies, powdery snow and abundant activities, it’s an outdoor-lover’s paradise,” said Helen Wilson, executive director, Wind River Visitors Council. “From experienced guides to accessible terrain and a variety of activity levels, winter is Wind River Country’s most underrated season.”
