Trends / Top Trends

At the start of the year, Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection announced its predictions for 2023’s travel trends. Some are, as expected, more of the same we’ve seen for the last few years, while others are somewhat new.

Here’s what Berkshire Hathaway says to expect:

More Bleisure Travel

Bleisure travel is nothing revolutionary, but it’s getting a bit of a resurgence as business travel continues to bounce back since the pandemic.

More Wellness Tourism

Another continuously popular trend, wellness tourism remains a favorite option for those who want to return from vacations feeling better than they did when they left — physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Demand for Off-the-Grid Destinations

As off-the-grid destinations become more accessible, they’re also becoming more popular. Berkshire Hathaway points to more travelers looking to visit small towns versus tourist-heavy destinations. However, at what point do these off-the-grid destinations become so popular they’re no longer “off-the-grid”?

Cultural Hub Popularity

Lastly, if travelers can find an off-the-grid destination that’s also a cultural hub, that’s even better, as cultural hubs are also trending. However, it can be tricky to combine the two. Often, cultural hubs offer lots of historic sites, museums, arts, entertainment and fine dining, all of which are more easily found in big cities.

Massive Resort Planned for Florida’s Forgotten Coast

Known as Florida’s Forgotten Coast, this stretch of the Florida Panhandle is often overlooked for more well-known destinations in the state, such as Panama City Beach, Miami and Tampa.
