American Express U.S. Consumer Card Members Can Check-Out with Plan It on Delta.com

Buy flights now and pay later. A new payment option from American Express and Delta Air Lines allows travelers to do just that. Both companies added Plan It, American Express’ on-card buy now, pay later feature, as a check-out option on delta.com, allowing cardholders to choose from available Plan It options while booking Delta travel.

An American Express survey revealed 68 percent of Gen Z and Millennial travelers said they would more likely take trips to dream destinations if they could pay for flights over time. Now, these travelers can control how they pay for Delta flights of more than $100. Plan It, available since 2017, allows card members to split up large purchases into equal monthly installments with a fixed fee.

“Plan It is all about putting Card Members in control of how they pay for things,” said Anthony Cirri, executive vice president, Global Consumer Lending and Cobrand, American Express. “Our Card Members love flying Delta for its world-class service and appreciate the flexibility of Plan It. It’s the perfect time to bring these together as people are booking long-awaited trips, and our Card Members can book with confidence knowing they are backed by the strong partnership between Delta and American Express.”

Plan It is popular with American Express credit card users — the number of new plans at the end of 2021 doubled year-over-year. Use the feature on delta.com by selecting an eligible card during check-out and choosing Plan It as the payment method. It will join the Fly Delta app as an option this spring.
