Each year the Art Basel show brings hundreds of the leading galleries from around the world to Miami Beach.
The 2016 edition will run from Dec. 1–4 and involve 269 galleries, exhibiting modern, contemporary and emerging artists at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Pieces range from photographs and films to large installations designed to display the spectrum of artistic expression.
For art lovers in the Americas, the event is mecca. Attendees fly in from across the globe, but Miami’s large Latin American population serves to attract large numbers of visitors and collectors from Hispanic world.
Thanks to a commitment to supporting emerging artists, most of the art on show is affordable. Many collectors come to town hoping to invest in the next big thing, while casual buyers might splash out on a statement piece for their home.
At the same time as the art shows, a series of glamorous parties are also held throughout Miami. The city already has a reputation as a great place to have a good time, and Art Basel kicks the party into overdrive.
If you visit the city during the show, you are bound to enjoy the best of art and entertainment Miami has to offer. You can pick up tickets to the show from the Art Basel website, where a one-day pass costs $50 or a permanent ticket costs $105.
