Avoid Stress Before Your Wedding

How To's

Modern weddings often mean stress. Pleasing all the relatives. Choosing the right menu. Getting the flowers to match the table linens. Hoping that one uncle won’t make an embarrassing speech. Just thinking about the to-do list is overwhelming. Beat the stress before the wedding with these tips.

Delegate. All the people coming to your wedding care about you and your fiancé. Many of them would be thrilled to help. Even small tasks like putting programs on chairs or putting out the guest book and pen make your guests feel helpful and it checks things off your list.

Take a break and take care of yourself. Don’t pull an all-nighter. Don’t skip meals. Sleep deprivation makes for irritability and does nothing for a glowing face. Not eating makes you cranky and generally makes you binge later. Have healthy snacks, drink plenty of water and take naps. Yes, naps. They are the perfect way to ignore the beeping, buzzing phone for an hour and let yourself recharge.

Let go of the idea of a ‘perfect’ day. Something, at some point, is going to go wrong. No matter how well you plan, there will be a slip up. The good news is that it’s likely to be minor. Mentally prepare yourself that something will have a hiccup so you can brush it off when it does happen and it won’t ruin your day. In the end, the little details, even the ones that miss the mark, give your wedding personality and make it memorable.
