Tips / Destination

Travelers to Barcelona come for a variety of reasons, be it art, architecture or culture.

Luckily, the city also has a huge number of bars and incredibly lively nightlife. There is something for everyone, from swish cocktail bars to neighborhood dives catering to the alternative crowd.

Cocteleria Tahití is a tiki bar focused on rum cocktails, served by nattily dressed waiters. The surroundings make for an interesting evening and the crowd can be lively.

If you want to combine cocktails and tapas, Balius is the place to be. The drinks are exquisite, and you can order food from the kitchen at any time. The perfect combination!

For something a bit more relaxed, head down to Bar Pastis. The venue is known for producing its own absinthe and pastis, served in a cozy bar that often plays host to live music.

Another local favorite is Betty Ford’s, with a relaxed hipster vibe. It is found on the Carrer de Joaquin Costa, known as the best road in Barcelona for a bar crawl.

Raïm is a great spot for knocking back a few rums, thanks to its Cuban connection. The walls are adorned with photos of Cuba, and show how much has historically been shared between Catalonia and the Caribbean island.

Anyone who goes up the hill to Montjuïc would be wise to visit La Caseta Del Migdia. It’s a bit of a walk, but it’s worth every second. This outdoor bar is hidden in the woods, and offers great view of the sunset over the city below.
