Big Little Lies

The HBO miniseries was based on a 2014 novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty. The novel and series follow closely, though the novel was set in Australia and the series in California.

Game of Thrones

Another HBO hit, the series is currently ahead of the books in its storyline. George R. R. Martin plans to continue writing, good news for fans as the series only has two seasons left in its run.

House of Cards

House of Cards takes inspiration from a trilogy by British author Michael Dobbs. The Netflix version is set in the United States, though both focus on the power and manipulation in politics.

Orange is the New Black

The Netflix hit is loosely based on the memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman. The series delves deeper into the women’s prison system and the intricate stories of the inmates.

Outlander

Outlander was published in 1991, but didn’t hit television screens until 2014. The novel is part of an eight-book series. Currently, STARZ aired two seasons of the television series, with orders for a third and fourth.
