MONEY magazine recently released its annual Best Places to Live list for 2017. The annual ranking began in 1987. Working with Realtor.com, this year’s list focuses on towns with a population between 10,000–100,000. The list highlights smaller towns and affordable suburbs. Any place with more than double the national crime rate, less than 85 percent of its state’s median household income and lack of ethnic diversity were eliminated, bringing the pool to 2,400 towns.

MONEY and Realtor.com analyzed data across eight main categories to create the rankings: cost of living, the economy, education, housing, crime, convenience, cultural and recreational activities and overall sense of pleasantness.

Did your town make the list?
