Georgetown might not be know as a culinary hot spot, but you might be surprised by the wealth of terrific eateries hidden throughout its streets. A larger than average multicultural population in the region brought in a wonderful variety of options when it comes to eating out. Check out these delicious spots when you’re in town.
Maharaja offers, hands down, the best Indian cuisine in Georgetown, maybe even all of Guyana. A selection of menu items catering to both meat lovers and vegetarians, combined with a wonderfully retro interior designed to look like an Indian palace, make for a delightful and scrumptious meal.
Aagman is a wonderfully decorated and inexpensive joint serving up delectable Indian and Asian cuisine. The chicken tandoori is some of the best in Georgetown, while the lamb vindaloo is always cooked to perfection.
M Delight
M Delight has two locations in Georgetown, one on Thomas Street and the other tucked away inside the Giftland Mall. The restaurants serve up incredible Lebanese and Middle Eastern dishes incredibly cheap, and are perfect for a quick lunch. The various meats on sticks bring long lines during the day.
The Aura Sky Lounge offers incredible, 360-degree views of Georgetown from the top of the Pegasus Hotel. The food menu is limited, but the cocktails are made to perfection, making it the perfect place for a night on the town.
Backyard Café
Backyard Café is a highlight of the Georgetown culinary scene for its unique experience. Located in the backyard of owner and chef Delven Adam, you’ll find a wonderful fusion of American influence and traditional Guyana cuisine, mixed with whatever Adam is in the mood to cook that day.
