Avoiding wet weather in Dublin can sometimes feel like an impossible task. Even the sunniest mornings can turn into rainy afternoons without warning.
Luckily for visitors to the Irish capital, there is plenty to do when things get wet. Whether you want to see some art, learn about Irish history or settle into a pub, Dublin has something for you.
The first attraction on your list should be the Guinness Storehouse. Here you can learn about how the famous Irish stout is made, before sampling some for yourself at the bar.
For those with an interest in museums, the Natural History Museum is a must see. You might think you’ve seen museums filled with taxidermy animals before, but Dublin’s version is unique. It has hardly changed since opening in 1857, and the exhibits are somewhat bizarre.
If you want to take in some culture, head to the Irish Museum of Contemporary Art. This artist-run institution is focused on promoting the work of local artists, so you’ll get to see some unique pieces of work.
History buffs will no doubt be interested in seeing the Book of Kells. Housed inside the beautiful surroundings of Trinity College, this ancient manuscript is one of the most famous attractions in Dublin. It was written around 800 AD, and is now shown to visitors inside the college.
Last of all, the rain is a great excuse to find a cozy pub and hole yourself up for the day. With more than 700 to choose from, you won’t be short of options if you’re looking for a drinking hole!
