Ah, spring break. It’s one of the most heralded parts of college and with good reason: When else do you get a week off from responsibility with your closest friends? But if you’re tired of the usual spring break spots (yes, you, Miami Beach and South Padre Island), there are still a bunch to check out — and you won’t even need your passport.
Puerto Rico
While not in the continental U.S., you won’t need your passport for this tropical paradise. Whether you decide to explore the jungle, stick to the capital San Juan area or venture out for surfing and laidback surfer vibes in Rincon, you can get it all in Puerto Rico easily.
San Diego
Thanks to California’s sunshine, this beachside city is warm during spring break months and offers miles of gorgeous beaches, bars and yummy restaurants. But the city is also loaded with history, art galleries, museums and one of America’s best zoos.
Nashville
Summer in Nashville can be brutal, with humidity and temperatures making it uncomfortable. Luckily, springtime is just perfect. Filled with live music, up-and-coming neighborhoods, delicious food and lots of southern charm (plus great deals on cowboy boots!), Music City has something for everyone.
New York City
If you’re looking for an urban experience, NYC can’t be beat. Spend your days sightseeing and shopping and your nights barhopping and chowing down on some of the best food around. The city really never sleeps and neither will you.
Seattle
A hint about the rainy city: it’s not really that rainy! In fact, Seattle boasts quite a bit of sunshine. Use it to your advantage over spring break as you sip on some of the best coffee in the country, check out Pike Place Market or explore the numerous parks scattered throughout the city.
