Camping used to be about connecting with nature by getting away from the artificial reality taking over our lives. These days technology found a way to creep into the wilderness, so we might as well start embracing it. Enter the BioLite BaseLantern XL, the easiest and smartest way to light your campsite without a match.

This extremely thin light is easy to stuff into a backpack yet still emits enough light to brighten up your world. It features a 12000 mAh rechargeable li-on battery, edge lighting and Bluetooth connectivity to make sure you won’t get lost in the dark. Not only does it provide light, but it also comes with a variety of cool features thanks to the accompanying app.

The app lets you adjust the brightness of the light emitting from your BaseLantern with the full color and warmth control or set it up to turn on automatically when you approach. You can also set a timer to turn it off once you’ve already gone to bed and an alarm for when you’re ready to wake up the next morning.

It also comes with a micro-USB charge in and out so there’s no need for batteries and you can also use it to recharge your phone. The SiteLight feature lets you utilize the BioLite string system to add more lighting when needed and the stainless steel legs allow it to stand on its own.

At $129.95 it’s a good deal for those who spend a lot of time in the woods or need an extra source of light on hand in an emergency. You can purchase one today on the BioLite website.
