Brimfield, Mass.’s Antiques Show

Three times a year, collectors and vendors from all over the world converge on the tiny Massachusetts town of Brimfield for one reason: antiques. For more than 55 years people have been traveling to Brimfield to buy and sell antiques. The show has grown from its original 70 booths to more than 5,000, making it the largest antiques fair in New England, if not the United States.

Vendors fill 21 fields, three to five acres each, along Route 20 winding through historic Brimfield. Parking is available at less than $10 in various lots. But nothing can prepare you once you reach the show. It is part carnival, part flea market and the people range from serious collectors to the merely curious. But the booths … oh, my, the booths!

With everything from yard junk to priceless antiques, Brimfield has a little bit of it all. Go in with a plan, if you’re looking for something specific. Or just go and wander, if you’re not. Who knows what treasures you’ll turn up. But, as they say, if you can’t find it at Brimfield, you may just have to go without it.

The show happens three times a year, once each in spring, summer and fall. 2015’s remaining dates are July 14–19 and September 6–11.
