Trends / Food & Drink

We all medicate in one way or another and it is estimated 80 percent of Americans imbibe coffee on a regular basis. That is a lot of coffee. And that is okay since coffee is a great source of antioxidants. Bulletproof coffee is the brain child of Dave Asprey who developed and promotes the Bulletproof Diet. This diet rejects processed foods and focuses on foods of the highest quality. Emphasis is on eating as much nutrient-rich whole foods as possible. It was created in opposition to the Standard American Diet to help people to lose weight and gain muscle while attaining focus and clarity.

You can look at this diet as a combination of ideas already on the market, but it sets itself apart with additions like BP coffee. The diet calls for an elimination of sugar, wheat, gluten and most additives. It emphasizes healthy fats, grass-fed meats, wild-caught seafood and organic fruits and vegetables. And now, the coffee. Instead of adding cream and sugar to your coffee, Bulletproof coffee calls for one cup of high-quality coffee, two tablespoons of grass-fed unsalted butter and 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil. Combine these ingredients together using a blender and enjoy. This concoction actually tastes good and it provides you with essential fats while keeping you properly caffeinated all day. You will not crave more caffeine throughout the day as the healthy fats stabilize your blood sugar. Check out Dave Asprey’s blog for a more detailed recipe and decide for yourself if this new version of your morning latte is something you want to incorporate.
