If you find yourself in Guatemala without the right gear, here are the best places to get some.
Heading out climbing or hiking? The best place to shop is La Rocalla in Guatemala City. There is a knowledgeable staff and the place has a huge range of gear for all sorts of outdoor pursuits.
Another good choice is Old Town Outfitters, in Antigua. This little place specializes in mountain biking and hiking gear, and also organizes tours. You can hire mountain bikes here and even visit the largest bike park in Guatemala with the company.
Skateboarders should check out Maple in Quetzaltenango and FS Skateshop in Guatemala City if they need any new stuff, while soccer fans should head to Soccermania, which has branches across the country. Other sporting goods are available at Mundi Deportes in Guatemala City, and the Siman department store in the malls in Zone 10, Zone 11 and Carretera a El Salvador.
Cyclists would do well to check out Vecesa in Zone 4 of Guatemala City, while runners and gym heads will likely find what they need at Life Fitness in Zone 10. It might not be as easy as shopping stateside, but if you know where to go you can find what you need.
