Hydration is incredibly important during sport and everyday life.

CamelBak has arguably become the industry standard in portable water reservoirs with their equipment in use around the world. If you are into trail running or hiking, you may have considered buying a CamelBak reservoir to keep yourself hydrated on the move.

The CamelBak water reservoir is connected to a hose which can be placed over your shoulder for easy access. This means no more taking your pack off to dig out a water bottle mid-trail. For runners, this saves valuable time, while hikers also benefit from the convenience of being able to drink in motion.

For 2017, the company updated its Crux reservoir system in order to make the process of drinking even easier. Some people find it difficult to suck water through the hose and CamelBak made two changes to address the problem.

First off, the hose now has a larger diameter and, second, the bite valve now sits at an angle to the hose. According to the company, this means it takes less energy to suck water through the hose and makes drinking fluid even easier than before.

Once you’re done drinking, flip the new simple lock to prevent drips. When you need to fill up the reservoir, things are made even easier thanks to a new wider opening with a cap that closes like the lid of a jar.

Other design changes mean the cap now falls away from your hand during refilling, and the grip area has been enlarged to make it easier to hold. You can get the Crux reservoir in vertical models of 1.5 liter, 2 liters and 3 liters, as well as a 3-liter horizontal model.
