Celebrate Fall in Turkey with Festivals and Events

Fall is the perfect time to plan a trip to Turkey, with a variety of festivals and events taking place throughout the country. Whether you prefer the arts, sports or gastronomy, there is something for everyone.

15^th Istanbul Biennial

The annual art showcase takes place through Nov. 12. This year’s theme is “a good neighbor.” Six venues host the free event including Istanbul Modern, Galata Greek Primary School, Ark Kültür and Pera Museum. In addition to the art displays, other events take place including readings, performances and workshops.

28^th Marmaris International Race Week

Travel to Marmaris for the annual sailing race. The event is the most attended in the area and hosted thousands of sailors from more than 30 countries during its inception. The 2017 event runs Oct. 28–Nov. 3.

54^th International Antalya Film Festival

The film festival is one of the most important in the country. Taking place in Antalya, the festival offers exhibitions, retrospectives and other screenings highlighting the influence of Turkish filmmakers in the global film industry. This year’s festival takes place Oct. 21–27.

International Grape Harvest Festival

The International Grape Harvest Festival in Urgup, Cappadocia, is a classic autumn event in the region. The wine-producing region celebrates its nearly 4,000-year grape-growing tradition during this festival. This year’s celebration runs through Oct. 11.

The Bodrum Cup

The Bodrum Cup is an annual international event for sailing yachts. More than 100 wooden yachts participate in the five-day competition. This year’s event takes place Oct. 17–22.
