PowerMat is aiming to change the way we think about our phone’s battery lives. No more panicking when you realize you left your charger at home, no more tethering your phone (and yourself) to a wall outlet.
PowerMat has locations across the country, from coffee shops and airports to restaurants and shops. Download the PowerMat app to find these locations. The app will also send battery alerts and special offers based on where you’re charging. Once in the PowerMat location, just place your phone on the charging spot and start wirelessly charging your phone.
If your phone is not capable of wireless charging, PowerMat offers a Ring for $10–12. The ring is compatible with iPhone 4 and above, Android phones and Windows phones. Plug the ring, which comes in a variety of colors, into your phone and you’ll be able to place it on the charging spot and start charging.
Currently, there are more than 1,400 charging locations in the United States, most located in a few key states, including California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts and Connecticut. You’ll also find a few in London, Munich, Ontario and France. PowerMat is working on a home charging option.
