The Peninsula Chicago, in conjunction with both the International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art at Navy Pier and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, unveiled a limited art exhibition last month. “REVERB,” a contemporary art showcase highlighting three artists whose work explores elements of movement, sound and electricity, is on display through Oct. 22.

Featured artists include James Nares, Iván Navarro and Naama Tsabar. Nares’ work on display includes “Delta,” from his Road Paintings series, exploring form, direction and repetition through the use of a mechanical road striper; “Driggs II,” a gilded pavement-stone rubbing of a New York City street; and three of Nares’ films. Tsabar combines canvas with internal and external components of amplifiers for mixed-media art with motifs of gender and destruction. Navarro’s work on display includes “Back to Square One,” “Impenetrable Room” and “Impenetrable (Mouth),” the latter of which lies on the floor. The works are made from containers lined with neon that ripples against a mirror.

“Every fall for the past five years we have partnered with extraordinary artists, collectors and galleries to showcase exceptional artists’ work, all with an effort to shine a light on emerging talent, and transform our lobby to encourage guests to pause, take notice and appreciate the art,” said Maria Razumich-Zec, regional vice president and general manager, The Peninsula Chicago.

“REVERB” is part of Yhe Peninsula Hotels brand’s larger public art initiative that also includes Art in Resonance, a multiyear program that commissions work from boundary-pushing artists.

Massive Resort Planned for Florida’s Forgotten Coast

Known as Florida’s Forgotten Coast, this stretch of the Florida Panhandle is often overlooked for more well-known destinations in the state, such as Panama City Beach, Miami and Tampa. But the region’s quiet and laid-back atmosphere slowly draws travelers wishing to escape the crowds and high prices of Florida’s other cities, and one hospitality brand just announced plans to bring a 55-acre resort and community to the area.
