In a time when drone enthusiasts find more and more restrictions and feel unwelcome in many places, a Chinese village actually encourages visitors to fly over their town.
The ancient village in Wuyuan County called Huangling is a remote spot that, between September and November, celebrates the tradition of shaiqiu, in which brightly colored produce is sun-dried on the roofs of the black and white Hui-style houses. The village is covered in colorful chilies and chrysanthemums, which, viewed from above, offer quite the sight.
The village partnered with drone company DJI to offer an aerial photography base in the village so drone owners can access the airspace to capture the scenery.
“We are thrilled to work with DJI to give visitors an exciting new way to view and appreciate the beauty of Huangling,” said Wu Xiangyang, CEO, Wùyuán Rural Culture Development Co., Ltd, in a statement. “The view from the sky will be a stunning angle for visitors to experience the village where quaint, colour-topped Hui-style houses are dotted across the mountainous landscape.”
