On my flight from Shanghai (PVG) to Los Angeles (LAX), I flew Delta Air Line’s Comfort+ cabin. Comfort+ features additional amenities from its location in the main cabin. Passengers flying Comfort+ receive priority boarding — a feature I greatly appreciated at the end of my trip to China. I quickly made my way to my seat and placed my carry-on luggage in the dedicated overheard compartment.
A pillow and blanket awaited me on my seat and a flight attendant distributed headphones. Delta Comfort+ guests receive amenity kits complete with eye mask, ear plugs, a toothbrush and toothpaste. I appreciated the convenience of the toothbrush and toothpaste during the long flight. Seats in this cabin boast additional legroom. The extra few inches made a big difference on the 10-hour flight. Shortly after takeoff, beverage and dinner service commenced. Three meal options were available: chicken with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables, vegetarian pasta or Chinese-style pork. All meals came with bread and butter and dessert. I opted for the chicken dinner. Alcoholic beverages are always complimentary in this cabin and I selected a white wine to accompany my meal.
While enjoying my dinner, I browsed Delta’s extensive entertainment menu. All programming is complimentary for Comfort+ guests. A variety of movies were available including new releases, international films and classics. I watched Spy while I ate and later The Theory of Everything. While the flight was listed as not having WiFi, I overheard some passengers saying they were able to connect.
I slept for a good portion of the flight. While I missed the mid-flight snack service, I awoke in time for the pre-arrival meal. Between the egg crepe with mixed berry sauce, or assorted dim sum, I selected the egg dish. I left most of the dish uneaten, but I enjoyed the croissant and yogurt that accompanied it. Within no time, we were in Los Angeles.
I was impressed with Delta’s Comfort+ as an alternative to economy. I would recommend this cabin for international or domestic travel.
