Wedding

The picturesque British county of Devon offers plenty of options for the discerning couple looking to host a spectacular destination wedding.

Devon is famous for its beautiful coastline and there are a number of wedding venues overlooking the cliffs, such as Polhawn Fort and Headland Hotel. Others, such as Boconnoc House, are set in luxurious parklands that are the epitome of the rolling hills of England.

Imagine yourself in a novel in the 11th-century grounds of Bickleigh Castle, and get married in its 6th-century chapel. Your guests will surely be astounded to hear the venue was built long before the United States of America was founded! For something more modern, check out the Eden Project, which houses plants from myriad ecosystems in a number of greenhouses. Get married in the tropics before stepping out into the fresh Devon air.

Book your wedding during the brief British summer (June–August) in order to avoid the cold and the rain. From stately homes, castles and estates to more modern venues such as the Eden Project, Devon has a lot to offer couples planning a destination wedding in England.

Devon is around four hours from London by train, offering easy access from Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Given London’s status as a flight hub, connections are plentiful and guests will have no trouble arriving from wherever they are on the planet.
