As far as Mediterranean islands are concerned, it is difficult to beat the stylish and surreptitious qualities of Mallorca. As part of the Balearic Islands (along with Menorca and Ibiza), Mallorca is often overlooked, yet when considered, is a wealthy choice for a wedding. One visit to the island will reveal its cultural and romantic qualities that make it ideal for a tropical union.

The Mediterranean climate means the majority of the year’s days are sunny and warm. Regardless of when you choose to celebrate your big day, the chance of rain is unlikely. Nearly every venue on the island is located next to the crystal-blue waters of the Mediterranean. From hotel lawns to private villas to cliffs overlooking the crashing waves, romance abounds in this tropical environment. Mallorca is home to both mountains and beaches, offering a variety of settings and views depending on your wedding wishes.

Once the vows have been said, celebrate your marriage with a party underneath the Spanish stars. Treat your guests to succulent seafood, fresh from the day’s catch, as well as cava (Spanish sparkling wine) and other local dishes such as arros brut (saffron rice with chicken and vegetables); bunyols (Spanish doughnuts); and ensaimadas, Mallorca’s most famous pastry.

The city of Palma de Mallorca is a perfect base for your wedding activities. Shopping and world-class restaurants can keep guests busy for hours while you prepare for the main event. For guests who make a full vacation out of the trip, the mountains feature superb hiking trails and the beaches set the scene for long afternoons of sun bathing with a glass of sangria.
