March 6, 2016, was a hard day for U.S. fans of Emmy Award-winning Downton Abbey as the series came to an end, but a new exhibit in New York helps ease the pain.
Debuted in November and sponsored in part by Viking Cruises, “Downton Abbey: The Exhibition” provides an up-close and personal look at the history, fashion and culture of post-Edwardian England. The immersive experience is set inside the world of the TV phenomenon, letting guests see what it’s like being a part of the Crawley family and those who served downstairs. From Mrs. Patmore’s kitchen and gossip-fueled servants’ quarters to the family’s glamorous dining room and Lady Mary’s infamous bedroom, fans can walk through some of the show’s most recognizable sets.
The exhibit also features more than 50 of the show’s official costumes worn by the actors. The exhibition is self-guided, and there’s an option for a Behind the Scenes guide containing interviews with cast and crew.
The multi-city tour is located at 218 W. 57th St., between Broadway and 7th Avenue in New York, open daily 10 a.m.–8 p.m. General admission tickets are available through April 2, online for $35.
