Dress Well When Flying

Tips / Travel

You’re in the airport, waiting patiently at your gate for boarding, and you notice some people are looking far too dressed for the plane. It’s a plane after all, not a business meeting or an interview. Why aren’t they wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt like the rest of us? Well, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Think about the golden days, when flying in planes was deemed unthinkable. The idea of a train was considered witchcraft and people feared traveling at speeds over 40 mph would melt your brain. When these fears were allayed, and the general public regularly used these methods of transport, they wouldn’t dream of arriving to their locomotive or airplane dressed down and slovenly. They would put their most prized articles of clothing on, and they treated it like a big to-do. So, why not attempt to relive these days? It doesn’t mean you should be dressing in a three-piece suit with a top hat and monocle, but at least look smart.

The feeling of self-respect and pride you’ll have for yourself is where you should begin. You want to look good for when you walk down the aisle to your seat. Furthermore, although the chances are slim you’ll get an upgrade just because of the way you look, it isn’t altogether beyond the realms of possibility. According to Airfare Watchdog, if there is an upgrade available, airlines are not going to choose some slob who looks like they’ve just fallen out of bed.

Now, you can say it’s wrong and elitist, but if you just put in a bit of effort and spruce yourself up a bit, then you stand to reap the rewards.
