Anyone who has ever owned a ski-style jacket will be pleased to hear one of the most annoying features received a handy update.
Whether you are carving fresh powder or simply wrapping up on a windy winter’s night, you’ll know the top section of the zipper on your jacket often hugs your face to such an extent things can quickly become claustrophobic.
Not only can the tight top section be difficult to close, it rubs uncomfortably against the face and can catch facial hair. Now zipmaker YKK has come up with a new design promising to end these problems.
The Fix A Shape zipper uses teeth that are slightly different shapes in order to force the zipper away from the face before it falls back in. It is licensed exclusively to jacket-maker Eider for at least the next 12 months.
One of the jackets which features the new zipper is the Eider Shaper. It will be released later in 2016 at a slightly pricey $550. Eider is known for its high-quality garments and the Shaper is sure to feature top-grade materials, as well as the revolutionary zipper, but it’s not one for budget buyers.
If you are really fed up with traditional zippers, it might be worth splashing out, but if not, you may as well wait for the new zipper to be included on other cheaper jackets.
