What to Pack for a Ski Trip

Heading off on a skiing adventure is an exciting trip that can be ruined if you forget to pack some of this essential gear. Most people rentskis and boots on the slopes, and everyone knows you should take a waterproof jacket and trousers. But the following smaller items can have a real impact on how much you enjoy your trip.

Don’t go away thinking a pair of cheap sunglasses will be enough to protect your eyes from the glare; be sure to invest in some decent goggles. Not only will they stop you tiring your eyes from squinting, they’ll protect the sensitive skin around them and prevent you suffering from the infamous panda eyes.

Your eyes are vitally important, but the rest of your face also needs protecting. Buy a specially formulated, high-SPF sunblock and don’t forget to put some on the bottom of your nose. The reflection off the snow will still burn you!

Don’t skimp on your socks, as a high-quality brand will keep your feet happy for days rather than encouraging blisters. For those skiing in particularly cold weather, remember a good set of thermals will keep you warmer than more expensive jackets and outerwear.

If you’re going to indulge in any après-ski, it’s also a good idea to invest in some lip balm. No one with flaky, chapped lips has ever been the most popular at a party. Be sure to pack some Alka Seltzer and vitamin C tablets so you don’t waste precious skiing time nursing a hangover in bed.
