Destination

Flights to and from California, hotels, admission to the park, food and drinks, Mickey Mouse ear hats. A trip to Disneyland can really add up. To keep visitors planning a trip to Disneyland this year from breaking the bank, Undercover Tourist’s Ian Ford recommends a few fantastic freebies guests may not be familiar with at the park.

Dining at Disneyland can be expensive; don’t let parking charges add to an already high expense list. According to Ford, guests get three hours of free parking when eating at a Downtown Disney table-service restaurant. Be sure to have your server validate your ticket before leaving.

If you get hungry while in the park but don’t want to spend too much on a quick snack, visit the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop at California Adventure, where all visitors receive a free piece of chocolate.

Prefer starchy carbs over sweets? Also at California Adventure is the Boudin Factory, providing guests with a free piece of sourdough bread following a tour of the facility. After walking through the factory and smelling the delicious bread getting baked, a complimentary bite of one of its specialties is appreciated.

After visiting Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome in Animation Academy at California Adventure, keep on humming “Let It Go,” but avoid letting your savings go on souvenirs with a trip next door to the Royal Academy. Guests can enjoy a free lesson in sketching Disney characters from a Disney artist and keep their artwork.
