For those accustomed to flying long-haul flights, you know jet lag is a real thing. The body struggles to cope with a change in time zones during longer trips, making confusion, mood changes and fluctuations in body temperature and blood pressure, among other symptoms, more pronounced.

Now, a group of researchers believe they developed an app to mitigate this time zone change with a smartphone app called Entrain.

The researchers behind Entrain believe jet lag is nothing more than a mathematical problem that has a simple solution and that’s what Entrain promises.

First, the app asks you about your present light exposure both inside and outside and then asks for details about your arrival and departure hours and the light you think you’ll be exposed to upon arrival. Will you be in meetings under florescent light or on a three-day hike? The app poses questions similar to this.

From here, the app offers a “solution” and tells you when to make sure you get some light exposure, even if it means setting an alarm in the middle of your sleep. The app will tell you to turn the lights on immediately for 32 minutes.

The developers maintain if you follow the recommendations from Entrain you’ll kick jetlag to the curb much quicker and get on with your life and travels.
