Exodus Adventure Travels, the leader in active, guided small-group adventures, recently announced a new innovative approach to responsible travel. The Thriving Nature, Thriving People initiative supports conservation efforts driven by local communities to help ensure a lasting impact.
A first-of-its-kind program, Citizen Science Departures lets travelers participate in collecting vital biodiversity data to contribute to global conservation efforts.
Through a partnership with Blue Marine Foundation, Exodus Adventure Travels helps conserve and restore marine ecosystems. The initiative focuses on key habitats, like seagrass meadows and mangroves, which play a critical role in carbon sequestration and biodiversity support. These efforts help protect ecosystems in seven global locations like the Dutch Caribbean, Greece and Indonesia.
To help protect local wildlife, Exodus Travel follows strict guidelines, and avoids experiences and activities that could be harmful to the animals. This allows the company to support various conservation projects and promote responsible tourism in destinations like Kenya, Sri Lanka and India.
Empowering Disadvantaged and Under-Represented Communities
The Exodus Adventure Travels Foundation supports under-represented and disadvantaged communities through tourism initiatives. Through Exodus’ Mountain Lioness Project in Tanzania, the company was able to support 30 female porters to become mountain guides on Kilimanjaro. The Himalayan Community Project in Nepal and India helps deliver materials to women living in remote Himalayan communities.
Exodus Travel supports a variety of grassroots community empowerment and conservation initiatives. This project helps uplift women, encourage entrepreneurship, promote youth conservation engagement and facilitate regeneration. Recently, The Exodus Adventure Travels Foundation partnered with Portugal A2Z Walking & Biking to help restore the country’s vital ecosystem following the devastating firestorms in 2017.
