Voodoo Doughnut

Now with multiple locations, the original Voodoo Doughnut can be found in Portland. The original and quirky shop accepts cash only and is open 24 hours a day. The brand has become such a favorite in Portland, it even hosts the occasional wedding. You’ll want to try the classic Voodoo Doll donut, filled with raspberry jelly, covered in chocolate and, of course, in the shape of a voodoo doll, facial characteristics included.

The popular New Orleans’ favorite District gives the traditional beignet a run for its money. The from-scratch (even down to the sprinkles) donuts come in seven varieties daily. Donut Byte Labs

Another Portland favorite, Donut Byte Labs is technically a food truck, not a shop. They create cake-style mini donuts using what they call a donut robot. The donuts are served cooled, glazed or topped in a variety of flavors. Favorites include bacon maple and peanut butter cup.

Leonard’s Bakery

Another historic spot, Leonard’s Bakery in Hawai’i attracts both locals and tourists. The specialty? Portuguese donuts known as malasadas, a fried doughnut made without a hole in the center.
