A visit to the French capital is something on most people’s bucket list.

To get the best value for money from your Parisian hotel, looked to stay in the still gentrifying areas such as Goncourt and Belleville. If you want somewhere quieter, the 14th arrondissement near Montparnasse is a family-dominated area. Avoid the 1, 2 and 3 arrondissments if you are on a tight budget.

Hotel Apollon Montparnasse has good deals, while The Element Hotel in Goncourt is another decent option.

Of course, the trend for Airbnb bookings reached Paris, and you can find some great deals. Whether you want a cozy apartment for two or a larger house for a big group of friends, you’ll often find the best prices on Airbnb.

If you are traveling alone and looking to meet people while away, youth hostels are the way forward. Paris has a relatively new entrant to its hostel scene in the 920-bed Generator Hostel. It’s a huge, well-designed space and dorms are just €25 per night.

For design fans with a little more money to spend, it’s worth checking out the Philippe Starck-designed Mama Shelter. Rooms start at just €79 per night. For a touch of class at a budget price point, it’s hard to beat.
