Focus on Food Perfection with One-Ingredient Restaurants

Food & Drink

Dining trends are constantly popping up on tables around the world, and Paris is no stranger to the invention of some of the planet’s best and most exquisite food fads. The City of Lights capitalized on a new trend involving menus that revolve around only one ingredient, a trend that has even become the focus of entire restaurants.

One-ingredient restaurants remove the pressure to make timely decisions, or even any decision at all. All menu items highlight one central ingredient prepared in ways that bring out its flavor and variability.

Diners who love eggs as much as the Louvre loves art can visit Eggs and Co., for example, where the menu is littered with varieties of the ingredient from brunch to egg-based desserts. Truffle connoisseurs and novices alike can make a reservation at Maison de la Truffe, a restaurant where the menu features recipes comprising white and black truffles from all over Europe.

Celebrating the apple, Pomze incorporates the fruit into each of its dishes, from grilled apples to apple compote marinades. Montmartre’s Le Coq Rico, also known as the unofficial bistro of beautiful birds, serves feathered friends either in pieces or as whole birds with options for sides.

The days of varied menus in restaurants are slipping away as focused-ingredient dining introduces the ability to specialize in one great dish.
