Imagine having the ability to access every single WiFi network at every airport in the world, and thus possessing the power to stay connected through nearly every aspect of travel. While this ability may seem like a far-reaching goal thanks to free internet time limits and password-protected firewalls, there is a program that clues travelers into select WiFi access information, a list continually updated by the website manager and travelers.
The blogger and security engineer behind the website foXnoMad maintains a map of the world’s airports and provides log-in info that he collects himself, as well as submissions provided by fellow travelers. Travelers who find themselves stuck at an airport during a long layover and without internet access can consult the offline map for information about the accessible WiFi networks.
Users can click on any airport location on the map and then view the name of the airport and the type of log-in information required to access the Internet. The listings will also inform travelers where the WiFi access is available, such as specific terminals or lounges. Sometimes guests must enter their email address or local phone number to access the internet, and there may still be browsing time limits at some airports.
There are still many airports lacking information, so there is room for improvement, but foXnoMad encourages travelers to submit available WiFi information so all travelers can stay connected, one airport at a time.
