If you’ve ever backpacked with a traditional backpack, whether just hiking for a few days or on the road for a few weeks or more, you know they come with some downsides, despite the fact they can fit all the stuff you’d ever need. For one, it’s difficult to actually find all that stuff quickly once you need it and, if something’s stuck in the bottom of your bag, you have to pull everything out to get to it.

The G.Y.S.T BP3-20 backpack changes that. The BP3 is the first backpack with quick, flat access. It opens and lies flat, just like a piece of luggage. Plus, the backpack has a handy feature that allows you to step inside the top zippered portion to cleanly and neatly change your shoes, perfect for the hiker who wants to change out of some dirty clothes before crawling into their tent, or the traveler who wants to swap out their shoes for flying without setting their feet on the dirty airport floor or airplane carpet.

The BP3 backpack is aimed at not only travelers, but swimmers, runners and other athletes who need to pack and unpack items in seconds, while keeping all their gear neat, safe, clean and compact.

Other features beyond the backpack’s unique lie-flat functionality and space to stand in the bag when it’s open include compression straps to hold a helmet, aluminum and metallic buckles, multiple compartments and laptop pockets.

The G.Y.S.T BP3-20 backpack was recently fully funded on Kickstarter. The first round of backpacks is now in production and, once orders are again open to the public, backpacks will start at $229.
